OrCam's Grand Global Growth - OrCam

It’s been an exciting summer for OrCam. With our German-language version released and now available, we dispatched OrCam staff to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to conduct training sessions for our new OrCam Trainers. As reported in The Senior newspaper, we also have introduced OrCam MyEye in Australia through leading assistive technology provider Quantum Reading, Learning, Vision.

In addition to OrCam’s European and Australian expansion, we trained a new group of sales consultants in the United States, enabling OrCam to increase our coverage and provide people with access to demonstrations in more States around the country.

The past few months have been busy for our Events Team. We presented OrCam MyEye at the 71st Blinded Veterans Association National Convention in Milwaukee and met American vets who were very enthusiastic about OrCam MyEye’s functionality. We were equally excited to see our current veteran OrCam users, including BVA of Wisconsin Regional Group President John Carter, who visited our booth and shared their experiences using the device with us. In Orlando, Florida, at the same time BVA was underway, we exhibited at the World Blind Union General Assembly where we demonstrated OrCam MyEye to representatives in the low vision field from countries around the world – and OrCam was showcased live on FOX 35’s Good Day Orlando.

Across the ocean in Glasgow, we exhibited at Techshare, Europe’s leading accessible technology conference.  OrCam also raised awareness of our breakthrough assistive technology at the European Dyslexia Association Conference in Modena, Italy and the DOG Ophthalmology Congress in Berlin.  We provided demonstrations of the OrCam MyEye at the Silmo Paris Optical Fair where we were honored to be the recipient of the New Developments in Low Vision Award.

Over the past few months, we have been developing enhancements to the OrCam assistive technology device based on our users’ requests and feedback. The wait is over because this month we shipped out the newest Version 7 SD cards to all of our current users. New gestures have been introduced which stop text reading as well as announce the current time. A new reading navigation option allows pausing and scrolling through sections of text while reading. Furthermore, the audio settings menu has been reconstructed for simpler personalization of the device. Initial reaction has been positive. “The new OrCam version is great, with increased functionality,” said Tim S, OrCam UK user. “I have been waiting for a pause feature and now I have it! I can put my reading on hold to answer the phone or get myself a cup of coffee.”

OrCam in the Media: With feature interviews on RNIB’s Connect Radio and NB Online, Sky News, BBC Two, AMI-tv, Scottish TV and more, we are excited to report that OrCam’s visibility continues to grow.
