A Gift for the Blind: Four Young People Receive OrCam MyEye 2 - OrCam

Thanks to a partnership between the Miami Dolphins‘ Football Unites program, the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, and the Israeli Consulate in Miami, the lives of these 4 young, visually impaired individuals will never be the same. They were gifted the life-changing OrCam MyEye 2, a tiny wearable AI device that instantly reads text, recognizes faces, identifies products and more.

Sebastian Torres, adjusting to his vision loss during the last 3 years, was one of the four to receive the device. “It has definitely been, you know, it’s not easy. It has been a little bit of a struggle,” said Torres.

Marnel Jean, another one of the recipients was happy to be given the ability to be more independent, “Now, I’m able to not be so dependent on other people.”

Diandre Incera was excited, “Wow, this is awesome. This is really cool.”

OrCam MyEye 2 will allow these four to become more independent when it comes to everyday tasks that sighted people take for granted. This includes reading their school text books, recognizing their friends and family, and knowing what they are buying at a supermarket as well as with what money note they are using to pay.
